West Seneca Square Club (1926-1930)

March 7, 1926: A group of area masons held an informal meeting at the home of Bro. Peter Mildenberger of Zion Lodge, No. 514 of Orchard Park These brothers decided to form what was to be called the West Seneca Square Club. They also talked about the possibility of obtaining the old school house, our present building as the future meeting place.
March 14, l926: An organizational meeting was held to start a square club. It was held at Vigilant Fire Hall at Ebenezer, N.Y. Vigilant Fire Hall people were paid $3.00 for the use of the hall for this meeting. After obtaining prices asked by Vigilant Fire Hall, Union Fire Hall at Gardenville, and by the Presbyterian Church, it was decided not to obtain a permanent meeting at that time. Meetings were to be held monthly.
March 24, l926: Bro. George H. Witzleben was at this meeting. He belonged to Erie Lodge at Buffalo, but it was too long and too far a ride by car or trolley, especially in winter. The brothers at this meeting formed the West Seneca Square Club. On May 27, 1926, Bro. George and seven others were accepted as members of this club.
July 29, 1926: After renting Vigilant Fire Hall, Union Fire Hall and Seneca Fire Hall several times, it was voted to rent the Gardenville Union Fire Hall for a period of one year at $50.00 per year.

September 28, 1928: A survey was made of the lodge area. It did not show the addition to the building—the dining area and kitchen, and it is unknown when the bowling alleys were installed. The survey was made by White and Getman Engineering Co; Buffalo, and it shows the addition or dining room and kitchen areas drawn in purple superimposed upon the survey, perhaps at a later date. The number 14156 139c is apparently the number of the print. It is unknown whether the survey was ordered for Fred Reck or by him. The lodge purchased the building later from the Temple Association group.
December 17, 1929: A special meeting was called for the purpose of changing the meeting place to Ebenezer, N.Y. at the Foundation Hall there, the West Seneca Temple Association’s building.
