Bro. Dan passed away on January 3rd at his home in Crystal River, Florida.
In 2019, after trouble with his previous host, I helped Dan move over all of his websites and domains to my hosting company, Kentropolis Internet. (I had already established a name for myself by developing and hosting several Lodge and Grand Body websites in addition to my commercial portfolio, going back to 1998.) Around 2021, I spent a year creating new infrastructure for his clients, converting over whatever we could to a modern, mobile-friendly format. This was also to ensure they could easily be taken over by others when he decided to retire, or if anything happened to him.
We discussed this more as time went on, with the understanding I was his contingency plan. I was already involved in upkeeping the system in place, and filled in when he had trouble, or was unable to do so near the end. He provided me with information on his clients and their sites, albeit a bit spotty in places. He didn’t seem to have a formal accounting system. But I gave him my word I would honor his agreements as best as I am able. My billing is automated through Quickbooks, which will include payment information (address, online options, etc..). I will provide W-9s on request.
I have already reached out to most of his clients and confirmed how much and when billing should occur. There is no need to send payment until you receive an invoice, and if payment is overlooked, there is no automatic suspension of service. You will never see a bill we hadn’t already discussed, other than the ones already expected and scheduled. If he has already been paid for a period, I will cover doing the work at no additional charge. If he did not charge for certain gratis projects, I will continue to honor that as well.
Reach out to me anytime to discuss this or future plans. I look forward to updating and improving each and all of these sites as we move along.
